The role of Richard Lestrange in The Blue Lagoon attracted many young actors, but the director gave preference to Christopher Atkins, who seemed to him the most unusual of all the contenders.
The guy, by the way, had no profession related to cinema, and certainly didn’t know how to act in films.
He was a simple lifeguard and sports enthusiast who decided to try his luck at the casting.
The director immediately declared that Christopher would delight critics even though he did not have the necessary work experience. And so it turned out.
For this role, the inexperienced actor was nominated for a Golden Globe. Naturally, he instantly became popular. Alas, he was not spared star fever.
Atkins crossed all boundaries, throwing his fees around left and right. The fans went crazy trying to attract the attention of the handsome man.
Oddly enough, the money gradually ran out, and Christopher had no acting talent. He was not offered work, so his standard of living became deplorable. As a result, the young man decided to open a sporting goods store, because he was very knowledgeable about it.
Things went quite well, although Atknis still remembers his role in The Blue Lagoon with warmth, considering his participation in such a project an incredible success.
