According to an anonymous source, the singer’s team urgently held emergency talks to develop a strategy in case the star becomes entangled in a criminal investigation related to her ex-boyfriend. Additionally, her assistants discussed whether she should publicly comment on the arrest that occurred on December 27, 1999, following a shooting in Manhattan that left Natanya Rubin and two others injured.
To recap, Jennifer spent 14 hours in jail after being arrested alongside Combs and his bodyguard. Police found a gun in the car they fled in from the scene of the shooting. Lopez was released after a few hours, but Combs, his bodyguard, and rapper Jamal Barrow were charged. Later, Combs and his bodyguard were acquitted, while Barrow was found guilty of illegal possession of a weapon. At the time, there were rumors that Barrow took the blame for P. Diddy.
