From drab to fab! See how one woman turned an old, unwanted nightstand into a stunning piece of furniture she now proudly shows off. 🛠✨
As a designer, I once came across a house that was almost a century old. The owners had an old, worn-out nightstand that they were planning to throw out.

I couldn’t pass by the rarity and instead of the trash, the nightstand went into my car. When my husband saw the nightstand, he was sure that the best thing to do with it was to throw it away, but from my look he understood that I would not agree to such an idea.
I started transforming the old furniture by sanding it. When the old varnish was removed, oak with a beautiful natural texture was revealed underneath.

The doors and side parts were made of plywood, I decided to work on them so that after the transformation the furniture would better fit the interior.

I added a rattan mesh over the doors and covered the tabletop with veneer, leaving the original oak planks on the sides.

To decorate the back wall of the cabinet, I found some bright wallpaper with a floral print in my stash.

In order not to hide the beautiful wood grain, the surface was covered with clear varnish. Several layers were enough to make all the parts smooth, with a soft glossy shine.

I bought new handles, they are metal and fit well with the overall style of the bedside table.

Now this designer piece of furniture has taken its rightful place in my home.

I placed the nightstand next to the yellow chair, another improved Soviet rarity.
