She considered her son a “tumor”. The fate of Brigitte Bardot’s only child

🌹 A complex bond and a story you won’t believe: Brigitte Bardot and the tragic tale of her only child. Dive into a life of fame, controversy, and difficult choices.

Brigitte Bardot never hid the fact that she was not up to motherhood. The actress had two abortions, one of which almost cost her her life.

And as soon as the 25-year-old actress learned about her pregnancy from her second husband, Jacques Charrier, she immediately tried to find a doctor who would perform the procedure she was already familiar with.

But in France such operations were banned until 1974, so no one dared to take responsibility. Then Brigitte decided to go to Switzerland, but her husband, fearing that the actress would get her way, simply locked her in the house.

“I wanted to break free in every sense of the word, because I was a prisoner of Jacques, a prisoner of my body and my child,” Bardot admitted in her memoirs.

“A woman cannot be forced to give birth”

Brigitte Bardot recalled that when she was pregnant, she thought of her child as a cancerous tumor and hit herself in the stomach.

“It was like a cancer that was eating away at me while I carried it around in my swollen body,” the actress later wrote in her memoirs.

Her son was born on January 11, 1960. The boy received a beautiful French name – Nicolas-Jacques.

After the birth, the doctor told the mother that she had given birth to a beautiful boy. “I don’t care, I don’t want to see it!” Bardot screamed.

She refused to breastfeed the child and almost immediately gave the newborn into the care of her husband and his family.

“I would rather give birth to a puppy than a little person. A woman should not be forced to give birth, even if she eventually comes to love the child. Childbirth should be a happy moment in her life,” Bardot has always been frank about motherhood.

Cute photos with a newborn and her husband are a scam

Several photos of the new mother, her son and husband were then circulated in most magazines in France and around the world. They were taken by an old friend of the family. But it was a scam. Like other paid photo shoots that the actress organized with Nicolas for show.

Bardo hated her son and husband, she dreamed of escaping from this hell. And the baby seemed to sense his mother’s dislike, so every time she picked him up, he began to cry.

However, Jacques Charrier hoped to the last that his wife would show maternal instinct, but this did not happen. Brigitte was very afraid of losing her feminine attractiveness to men, she did not want to be seen as a “mother”.

Soon the actress began an affair with actor Sam Fay. When her husband found out about it, he demanded a divorce and renunciation of parental rights to their son. Brigitte signed all the papers depriving her of parental rights without hesitation.

Have you come to your senses?

Sometimes the actress tried to establish contact with her son, but she still did so reluctantly.

One day, when Nicolas-Jacques was 12 years old, the boy came to visit his mother for a few days. But already in the evening of the same day, Bardot sent him back to his father, because a party with friends was planned at the star’s house that night.

Nicolas was old enough to understand what place he occupied in his mother’s life – none. After this incident, Nicolas no longer wanted to see his biological mother.

But the older Brigitte became, the more she was drawn to her son.

“I am now 47 years old, I have a 22-year-old son Nicolas, my family and support. I love him more than anything in the world,” Brigitte wrote in her diaries. But it seemed too late for regrets and apologies.

Nicolas-Jacques Charrier lived his own life, in which there was no place for his mother. The boy studied economics at the University of Paris, studied music, learned to play the piano, composed and arranged songs.

At the age of 22, Nicolas began working as a model. At one of the fashion shows, he met his future wife, model Anne Lynn Bjerkan, who turned out to be the daughter of a diplomat. The couple married in 1984.

Brigitte Bardot did not receive an invitation to her son’s wedding, which upset her greatly.

Soon the happy couple moved to Oslo, where their first daughter was born a few months later. For a long time the girl did not know who her grandmother was, because in Nicolas’ family Brigitte was still persona non grata.

In 1990, Nicolas-Jacques had a second daughter. And here the star grandmother showed persistence. Bardot came to Norway with the firm intention of improving relations with her son. However, all that the cuckoo mother achieved was only a cold reconciliation, which, however, did not last very long.

In 1997, after the publication of Brigitte’s memoirs, a new family scandal erupted: her ex-husband and son sued the actress. They demanded that the chapter on motherhood be removed from the book, but to no avail. The court ordered the actress to pay only symbolic compensation.

Now Nicolas has become a grandfather himself. His profession is far from art – he is a programmer. When asked by journalists why he is not on good terms with his mother, the man answers:

“She loves her furs and I love my family.”

On September 28, Brigitte will turn 90. The former beauty and screen star is now a lonely old woman. She can barely move, her legs hurt.

But it was she who said: “It’s better to be old than dead.”
