Wow! Miley Cyrus has found herself in a scandalous situation with her hit song “Flowers,” which took the charts by storm in 2023, won a Grammy, and became an anthem for self-sufficient, independent women. The singer is accused of blatant plagiarism, and a lawsuit has been filed against her.

The lawsuit claims that Cyrus’s “Flowers” copies Bruno Mars’s 2013 hit “When I Was Your Man,” which also topped the pop charts. However, it is not Mars who is suing, but rather the company Tempo Music Investments. Tempo Music alleges that Cyrus “intentionally copied” “When I Was Your Man” with “Flowers” due to significant similarities between the two songs.

The investment company argues that “Flowers” has a similar melody and harmony to the earlier track, both in the verses and the chorus. Tempo Music also asserts that “based on the combination and number of similarities between the two recordings, ‘Flowers’ would not exist without ‘When I Was Your Man.'” Interestingly, both tracks became hits and each reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
So, let’s listen and see if the songs are indeed as similar as claimed.
