A man known as “The Tree Man” has faced significant difficulties because of an uncommon condition that results in severe deformities in his hands. Despite encountering many obstacles and undergoing multiple surgeries, he has discovered immense joy in being able to embrace his daughter once again, thanks to his unwavering determination and the expertise of medical professionals.

Originally from Bangladesh, Abul Bajandar is suffering from a rare condition known as “Tree Man” Syndrome, an inherited disorder that causes non-contagious and currently incurable skin growths resembling tree bark. Surgeries only offer temporary relief for this condition, leading to substantial disabilities for those impacted. Abul’s struggles are shared by others globally managing this syndrome.

The syndrome induces tree bark-like skin growths that start as small nodules and can expand extensively. Abul’s condition first manifested during his teenage years and rapidly worsened as he got older, affecting various parts of his body.

From 2016 to 2017, Abul underwent 16 surgeries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in Bangladesh, reaching a significant milestone when he was able to hold his daughter once again. These surgeries were aimed at removing the bark-like lesions from his hands and feet, providing hope in his fight against Tree Man Syndrome.
Despite the frustrating return of his condition, Abul remains hopeful and resilient. Although doctors noticed the resurgence of the syndrome, Bajandar stays optimistic and expresses, “My only dream is to overcome this situation and lead a healthy life.”

His sincere words not only depict his personal struggle but also a universal aspiration for health and recovery. Bajandar’s enduring hope is evident as he affirms, “All I can say is that I genuinely believe and hope that a cure exists for this disease.” In the face of adversity, his spirit stays strong, representing the courage of those contending with rare and challenging medical conditions.
