American actress Nicole Kidman, who had recently been criticized for her unhealthy thinness, was forced to leave the Venice Film Festival prematurely due to a family tragedy. Nicole didn’t even have the chance to receive her award for Best Actress for her role in the film “Baby.”
It was revealed that Kidman’s mother had passed away, and she left the festival without receiving the award. From the festival stage, the film’s director, Galina Rain, announced the news and read a note from Kidman, which expressed her broken heart.
“I arrived in Venice today, only to learn that my beautiful, brave mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, has passed away. I am in shock and must go to my family, but this award, it shaped me, it guided me, and it made me who I am. I am endlessly grateful to be able to say her name to all of you through Galina. The collision of life and art breaks my heart, and my heart is broken. We love you all,” Kidman’s note read.
Additionally, it was known that back in April this year, Kidman had mentioned her mother’s declining health while receiving the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award. Kidman highlighted how her mother had always supported her from childhood.
