Since Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck over two weeks ago, everyone has been speculating about what ruined their so-called “great love,” as the singer referred to her relationship with Ben. Now, thanks to a resurfaced old interview with Affleck, the reasons behind the breakup have become clearer.
According to Ben Affleck, he understands why his relationships with women always end sadly. He explained that his romances didn’t fall apart due to infidelity or because he was looking at other women. His relationships weren’t marred by physical violence or psychological pressure from his side either. Instead, Ben explained:
“The thing is, every time something started happening that I didn’t like, I wouldn’t say anything. I stayed silent, and gradually, the problems accumulated, poisoning our relationship. It all ended up with me wanting to get out of the relationship…”
Despite realizing his problem a long time ago, Ben apparently didn’t want to change his behavior. It seems this same issue occurred with Lopez. In fact, it happened not once but twice: in the early 2000s, when they canceled their already-planned wedding, and now, after the couple rekindled their romance in 2021. In the summer of 2022, less than a year after their wedding, Ben publicly stated that he least wanted his relationship with Jennifer to be reflected on social media. Overall, the actor made it clear that he dislikes public exposure in his personal relationships. This time, he partially voiced his complaints.
However, it seems he did not do so assertively enough. In any case, Lopez apparently didn’t take his words seriously and did not make any changes. She continued to post every step they took on her account, while he continued to silently accumulate dissatisfaction and irritation. But when Ben saw that Lopez’s team was going through his love letters to Jennifer, he couldn’t take it anymore. In May of this year, he moved out of their family mansion.
The most surprising thing is that Ben gave a dishearteningly candid interview about his relationship problems with women as far back as 1999, even before his first encounter with Jennifer.
