The Princess of Wales delighted royal fans with a surprise message of congratulations to Team GB on the final day of the 2024 Olympics. But not only her appearance next to Prince William delighted the British – the mother of three children appeared in an updated image.
The 42-year-old mother of three, who continues to undergo chemotherapy, looked cheerful and radiant in the video. Makeup artist Joy Adenuga took a closer look at the details of the daughter-in-law of King Charles III.
“In the Princess of Wales’s congratulatory message, her hair and makeup exude a sense of effortless elegance that suits her role perfectly. Kate’s hair looks slightly bleached, with a few sun-bleached strands, giving her dark locks a softer, more radiant look. Lightening the color a little enhances her natural glow, adding a bit of brightness that complements her complexion,” Joy explained.
According to the beauty expert, Middleton’s makeup is understated but polished, with a fresh, natural foundation that highlights her flawless skin. Using soft, neutral eyeshadow with a hint of shimmer draws attention to her eyes without overwhelming them, while a subtle blush adds health to her cheeks, Adenuga assured.
“Her lips are a muted shade of pink, which not only balances the look, but also emphasizes her casual, open demeanor. Overall, this look suggests a confident, composed, and relaxed princess—one who looks effortlessly chic but is perfect for the occasion. It’s a beauty look that speaks volumes about her grace and poise while staying true to her signature style,” Joy said.
Laura Kay, makeup expert and founder of Laura Kay London, suggested Kate used bronzer to highlight her cheekbones and jawline, adding a tanned, youthful glow. Liquid highlighter was also useful in makeup to further accentuate the cheekbones.
“Her lips can now shine with a glossier finish that accentuates their fullness, a departure from her previous preference for traditional pink shades, which sometimes made her lips appear thinner. This makeup complements her hair, showing off her tanned strands,” Laura was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, Kate wore a new piece of jewelry to record her congratulations. The promise ring, set in a Victorian rose gold band, features stones corresponding to the royal couple’s month of birth: pearls for a prince born in June; pomegranate for a princess born in January. The garnets worn by a young Kate Middleton on her graduation day are said to symbolize devotion, while pearls are known to be a symbol of innocence and purity.
