This giant 16th-century stone colossus in Florence hides entire rooms inside it.

This giant 16th-century stone figure hides an entire world within its structure, offering a unique glimpse into history and architecture. You will be amazed when you see what hides inside this stunning statue

This grandiose sculpture, representing a human figure carved directly into the rock, was created by the famous Florentine Mannerist sculptor Giovanni da Bologna (Giambologna) in the late 1500s as a symbol of the rocky Italian Apennines. This stone deity, worthy of the name Apennino, is located in the Villa Pratolino in Tuscany.

But this sculpture has its own secret. There are several rooms hidden inside that can be used for other purposes. The left hand of the colossus supports the flow of water, which originates underground; and according to rumors, the room inside the head was reserved for a fireplace, in which, when the fire was lit, the giant’s nostrils were supposed to release smoke.

The park that currently houses this stunning sculpture will remain open to tourists on weekends until the end of October.
