Ruby, an eight-time mother, saw noticeable changes to her body following her fourth pregnancy. Her thighs refused to shrink, even after she tried to reduce their size with exercise. She finally decided to get surgery, and when she saw the change in her figure, she started crying with happiness.
Ruby, who is 39 years old, has three boys and five children. Adipose hypertrophy, an uncommon genetic disorder that causes excessive fat cell development and disrupts the bloodstream’s ability to circulate toxins, was the diagnosis made for her.
Ruby claims that she made many unsuccessful attempts to get back to her pre-pregnancy physique. “My body was normal before my first three pregnancies,” she remembers. That all changed, though, following the birth of the birth of her fourth child.
“No matter how much I worked out, I was unable to reduce the weight on my thighs. My hips didn’t change. Ruby decided to have liposuction on both thighs and a second treatment to remove extra skin, despite having a lifetime dread of surgery. The depth of her thighs’ metamorphosis startled her surgeon, Dr. Megan Gruber.
Ruby, despite her fear, was resolute and decided to stay awake during the surgeries. She was given an anesthetic before the excision of four liters of fat. After the successful procedures, Ruby was overcome with emotion upon witnessing her new appearance. She felt secure enough to start arranging her wedding with her ten-year-old partner two months later.
Ruby says that she is now prospering and feels good about herself. She calls it a life-changing experience. “I never could have imagined myself in a dress before. I’m now finally getting married to my lover after ten years of dating.”
Ruby’s apparent contentment with her physique is encouraging, but it is depressing that she was criticized. Bullying incidents continue to happen, such as when a neighbor tells a girl not to wear a bikini. This shows how difficult it is to embrace and value body variety.
