A single father disappears from work, and when his colleagues realize why, their action makes everyone cry. Discover what they did and you will cry, too.
When a 36-year-old single father named Andreas was told his 3-year-old son Julius had leukemia, the ground literally fell away from under his feet.
It so happened that this is not the first time that Andreas Graf’s family has heard a terrible diagnosis. Andreas’s 36-year-old wife was battling a serious heart condition.
So when 3-year-old Julius was diagnosed with leukemia, Andreas felt only despair and hopelessness. All he wanted was to be with his son and help him fight the disease. But there was one problem – Andreas used all the vacation days he was entitled to.
Andreas was in a very difficult situation when his colleagues decided to do something incredible for him.
At the end of January 2017, Andreas Graf from Fronhausen, Germany, learned that his 3-year-old Julius was diagnosed with leukemia. After a long stay in the hospital and several procedures, the child’s father was allowed to take him home. But soon Andreas faced another terrible blow.
Another tragedy
Andreas’s wife has died. Despite the fact that she lived with a serious heart condition for a long time, no one expected her to die soon. Andreas’s condition at that time is very difficult to describe – his wife had just died, and his young son was diagnosed with leukemia. And to top it all off, Andreas had a difficult job that took up most of his time.
The incredible act of his colleagues brought the man to tears
Fortunately, at Seidel, where Andreas works, there are many kind and caring people. Colleagues knew about the man’s plight and how little time he had left for his son, who needed his father more than ever. So, all 700 employees of the company made a joint decision: they would work overtime so that Andreas could be at home with his son.
In total, they worked 3,300 hours of overtime, which meant Andreas didn’t have to work for more than a year. The company’s CEO, Andreas Ritzenhoff, is extremely proud of his employees’ determination.
“It’s nice to see how your team comes together when difficulties arise. Some of Andreas’ colleagues worked 30 hours for him,” Seidel’s CEO said in an interview with the German newspaper Oberhessische Zeitung.
PS Andreas couldn’t hold back his tears when he found out what his colleagues had done. Now he can constantly be near his child and help him in the fight against a serious illness. Share this touching story with your friends on Facebook and wish baby Julius a full recovery!
