Revitalizing a 1980s Forest Retreat: A Stunning Transformation

Revitalizing a 1980s forest retreat: Witness the stunning transformation that breathes new life into this hidden gem! 🌲🏡✨ See how a dated cabin turned into a modern sanctuary.

Before

This property, built about 1982, required extensive renovation and updating. The property is located in East Hampton, New York, and is nestled in a forest surrounded by white pine trees. The still-amazing facade, which had rotted, needed a facelift, and the interior, with its dark, narrow halls, needed to be redesigned.

After

Murdock Solon Architects renovated the entire home, transforming it beyond recognition. The façade was wrapped in cedar with accent cement panels, and new windows were erected, allowing you to look straight through the home and take advantage of the amazing setting.

The house’s plan was changed by filling in the windowless courtyard to expand the kitchen and dining areas, as well as adding a den and screened porch. It not only provides additional room without increasing the size of the home, but it also allows for an open-plan style.

To complement the surrounding woodland, the décor featured a palette of natural materials, hues, and fabrics. With wraparound windows, this bedroom is the perfect place to connect with nature.
