Men don’t necessarily want sons, despite popular opinion to the contrary; many dads find great satisfaction in rearing daughters. Ryan Reynolds is a prime illustration of this. He freely expresses his satisfaction at not having males and gladly embraces parenthood with his four girls. For his kids, Ryan Reynolds personifies what a devoted parent should be. James, who is seven years old; Inez, who is six years old; Betty, who is three years old; and their fourth kid, whose name they have chosen to keep hidden, were raised by him and his wife Blake Lively. Reynolds decided to curtail his acting career because he wanted to devote more of his time to being there for his growing family.

Before the advent of their newest member, Reynolds freely disclosed in interviews that he would prefer another girl to a son. Using his upbringing as the youngest of four boys as a starting point, he jokingly emphasized the mayhem that boys can cause in a home. Reynolds insisted that he and Lively were ready for any situation, despite their preferences.

Reynolds’ dreams were realized when the couple had their fourth daughter in February 2023. Though her name is yet unknown, rumors abound. Remarkably, the couple names one daughter James in remembrance of Reynolds’s late father and another Betty in honor of Lively’s late father as part of a custom of naming their kids after family members.

Since Taylor Swift, Lively’s close friend, had mentioned their first three kids’ names in her songs, fans surmised that the fourth child would be called Daisy. That being said, this is still unverified. When Blake Lively posted bikini pictures after their fourth child was born, many were impressed by how quickly she recovered from her pregnancy and how beautiful she looked.

What do you think about his decision?
