Chang and Eng Bunker
It was thanks to them that twins fused into one body began to be called Siamese. They were born at the beginning of the 19th century in Siam (the old name of Thailand). With their birth in a remote fishing village, they caused a real stir. Local residents considered them harbingers of the end of the world and wanted to kill them. It was only by miracle that they managed to survive.
When Chang and Eng were 17 years old, British entertainer Robert Hunter offered them a job in the circus. Thanks to their uniqueness, the brothers have traveled all over the world. They became famous and very rich. The Bankers settled in the USA. Here both married two sisters (not Siamese) and lived until they were 63 years old. Surprisingly, between them they had 21 children. The Banker brothers died on the same day, within a few hours of each other.
