Transformation: How son turned his parents’ old apartment into a masterpiece. Before and after photos reveal the stunning renovation.
Many of those between the ages of 40 and 50 today spent their childhood and youth in housing built during the Khrushchev era. Their parents, faithful keepers of old traditions, do not want to give up their houses, despite their old appearance. However, the son, who took the initiative, decided to improve the living conditions of his parents, who were not too inclined to change. Thus, it was decided to carry out extensive renovations and transformation of the housing.
BEFORE the transformation begins
Despite the ancient nature of the apartment, an atmosphere of true coziness and comfort reigned inside. The covering on the kitchen walls resembled fresh, mint tea and created a special charm of the space. The kitchen floor was covered with old-fashioned linoleum, which, despite its ancient nature, added its own unique note to the interior decoration.

The living room bore the visible legacy of renovations carried out many years ago. Foam tiles on the ceiling and wallpaper that didn’t meet modern standards spoke of times gone by. The same atmosphere spread in the bedroom.
However, after the completion of the renovation project, the apartment was transformed. When planning the new flooring, an important decision was made to use old wood floors, sanded and partially replaced to eliminate squeaks. This move preserved the authenticity and character of the space while giving it a new, fresh look.

The walls and ceilings were carefully aligned, turning an ordinary room into a real masterpiece of renovation. The walls were wrapped in an elegant plaster coating, while the ceilings took on a sophisticated look thanks to plasterboard. Before this revolutionary update, the wiring has been completely revised and modernized, and the number of outlets has been increased to meet all modern needs.

Particular attention was paid to the accent walls, including the one at the head of the bed. Here, unique wallpaper created a surprising accent while hiding minor imperfections and surface irregularities.

For the kitchen, the bulk of the walls were transformed with some careful painting and a small area was decorated with beautiful tiles. The installation of a custom-made kitchen unit made the kitchen functional and stylish. The geyser was removed, freeing up space for modern household appliances and convenient storage. This rational approach to the use of space has made the kitchen a real center of coziness and comfort.
