Modest Budget, Boundless Love: A Son’s Touch Turns His Mother’s Apartment into a Stylish Masterpiece. Join us as we explore how love, creativity, and a tight budget transformed this space into a haven of style and comfort.
A caring son, wanting to provide comfort to his mother, on the threshold of a well-deserved rest, chose a cozy home for her not far from his home. He knew that his mother was a woman with an indomitable spirit, and he strived to make her new home ideal after extensive renovations.

This apartment had a typical area of 35 square meters, not including the balcony, in a panel building from 1968 with ceilings at a height of 2.5 meters. Despite the compact dimensions of the hallway and bathroom, the kitchen offered a spacious almost 10 square meters, and the main room was spread over 19 square meters.

Before the transformation began, we had to face the need to remove antique finishes, which meant completely getting rid of them on every surface.

Removing old paint from ceilings proved particularly difficult when neither power nor hand tools worked, requiring the use of powerful chemicals to clean the concrete substrates.

During the renovation, the wall separating the corridor and the main space was removed, replacing it with a lightweight plasterboard structure with built-in cabinets for convenience.

There was a complete replacement of electrics, heating appliances, doors, and water supply systems. The walls and ceilings were leveled and covered with uniform paint, not forgetting the decorative ceiling elements.

Porcelain stoneware was chosen for the floors in the hallway and kitchen, parquet was used in the living area, and the joints were sealed with silicone. The kitchen, which opens onto the balcony, has been completely rethought, equipped with custom-made furniture.

The refusal to use gas in the kitchen prompted the decision not to install an interior door.

In the bathroom, after dismantling the wooden trim, the space expanded, allowing room for a standard cabinet with a sink. The ceilings now have the same height everywhere – 2.5 meters, and the balcony is brought into harmony with the overall style of the apartment.
