In renovating the basement space, formerly our colonial home’s kitchen, we embarked on a comprehensive restoration project. This involved gutting the room entirely and undertaking a series of essential upgrades to ensure functionality and resilience against future challenges. Tasks included replumbing the heating system, upgrading the electrical panel, relocating the furnace, implementing flood mitigation measures, and rebuilding the fireplace. Additionally, we meticulously preserved the kitchen’s historical charm by salvaging the butcher stove and original wood and hardware elements.

The renovation not only revitalized the space but also addressed systemic issues within our home, resulting in improved electrical and plumbing systems and enhanced warmth throughout. Moreover, we now feel better equipped to handle potential flooding from our nearby creek.
