Before

When my wife and I moved into our 1968 Colonial house six years ago, we knew we wanted to infuse it with character and charm. Last year, we embarked on a transformative journey by adding a front porch and refreshing the exterior with a fresh coat of paint.

Drawing inspiration from countless porch designs, we meticulously crafted a porch that harmonized with the scale and style of our home. With determination and dedication, we undertook the construction ourselves, save for the brick piers and the standing seam metal roof.

After

For the flooring, we opted for durable and elegant Ipe wood, known for its longevity and natural beauty. Complementing the flooring, we installed a beadboard ceiling, adding a touch of traditional charm to the porch.

Over the course of eight months, we poured our hearts and souls into the project, working tirelessly to bring our vision to life. The result? A home that exudes warmth and hospitality, with a front porch that beckons guests to linger and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

Today, our house boasts newfound curb appeal, with the addition of the front porch not only enhancing its aesthetic appeal but also providing us with a delightful outdoor living space. As we sit on our porch, savoring the cool breeze and admiring our handiwork, we couldn’t be more proud of the transformation we’ve achieved together.
