According to homeowner Hanna Seabrook, it’s the little touches that truly define a space. When she’s not overseeing Gadabout Creative, she’s scouring online marketplaces and local thrift stores for unique treasures. Starting with a beloved piece, Seabrook builds her decor around it, creating spaces brimming with character and history.

With only three weeks to find a home after her husband’s job transfer to Louisville, Seabrook settled on a 1940s cottage with plenty of potential. Despite knowing they’d return to Charleston in four years, they embarked on remodeling, focusing on painting, renovating the den, and revamping the kitchen. The result? Inviting, adaptable rooms that reflect Seabrook’s love for nature and timeless design.
Seabrook seamlessly integrates botanical elements into her home, pairing classic patterns with soft, green hues. Creative solutions like a wicker screen camouflage an unsightly fireplace surround, while artfully concealing built-ins maximizes storage in the compact space.

In the kitchen, Seabrook and designer Olivia Brock embraced a farmhouse aesthetic, opting for budget-friendly updates like beaded-board walls and mahogany countertops. A standout piece, a Country French drop-leaf table, adds charm despite its size, serving as both a focal point and an investment for future moves.
Throughout the home, Seabrook blends antique furniture with unexpected accents, showcasing her appreciation for craftsmanship and individuality. Daughter Eaddy’s room embodies a timeless elegance with classic nursery pieces and soft hues, creating a space that’s both practical and nostalgic.
