The owner of the apartment gave the designer Evgenia Razuvaeva complete freedom, only the interior style was firmly defined – loft. Let’s see what came of it.
The idea belonged to the customer, a young entrepreneur, who gave the designer freedom in everything, but clearly defined the style – loft. And since the “Stalin” style does not suit the loft at all, Evgenia Razuvaeva had to create all the iconic elements of the industrial style herself.
The only thing “native” here is the brick walls. But they also had to be worked on: the brick was cleaned of layers – plaster and old mortar between the bricks, a new one was applied and varnished. Everything else is new, from the sockets to the layout (instead of two rooms and a kitchen, there is a large kitchen-living room, a bedroom, two dressing rooms and a mini-office).

Evgeniya Razuvaeva is most proud of the sockets and switches : they are original. The switches – please note – these are old radio toggle switches, which the designer spent a long time looking for in the markets. Frames were made of black metal coated with varnish for them. The sockets are modern, German, but in the same metal frames.

External wiring made it possible to maintain the height of the ceilings – this is especially important for a loft – and in addition, it became almost the main element of the decor. Black graphics of wires against the background of white walls and ceiling look very impressive. Lamps in boxes made of wooden boxes, open shelves made of boards and water pipes – all the signs of a loft are evident.

The most amazing thing about this project is how easily it combines old and new, glossy plastic and aged wood, battered by the winds and sea. To frame the mirrors, Evgenia used driftwood extracted from the depths of the river; in the bedroom, instead of a hanger for trousers and shirts, she installed an old wooden ladder, and made kitchen shelves from real barn boards.

The customer insisted on an island in the kitchen – he loves to cook and chat with guests at the same time. The two cats and dog that live with him also contributed to the design project – because of them, he had to switch from engineered wood to vinyl flooring.

In each of the rooms there are some design ideas that cause, if not delight, then at least surprise: in the bathroom, heated towel rails are made from the same black water pipes, which are used in this project in different capacities, the countertop is made of elm sawn, and two sinks are made of natural stone.

And the entire interior as a whole turned out to be so authentic that it’s hard to believe in its “non-industrial” past – in the fact that this moderately brutal loft was until recently a set of boring old people’s rooms with floral wallpaper. If you want to make sure of this, look at the end of the article.
