This kitchen renovation was a must. The scenery has not changed here for more than sixty years. See how the interior has changed in just one month and within the framework of strict budget savings.
It’s hard to believe, but the interior of this kitchen has not changed since 1952! Debbie Young’s family saved money and put off renovations until later each time. Until one fine moment the room found itself in a state of disrepair: the paint on the walls was completely worn out, the floor was “decorated” with stains, the cast-iron sink was pretty scratched. Changes were necessary: the kitchen had to not only take on a modern look, but also become much more functional and comfortable.

The funds did not allow Debbie to be mediocre when it came to interior design. She was faced with the task of updating the kitchen at minimal cost, so the hostess immediately gave preference to practical materials and colors, as well as high-quality appliances. But at the same time, it was decided to leave some of the old furniture. In addition, the family could not find itself without a kitchen for a long time, therefore, modernization had to be carried out as soon as possible: in one month.
To begin with, the owner decided to get rid of the stained white facades: the slightest stains – and the kitchen looks untidy. And the uncomfortable handles only added to the hassle of cleaning. New dark wood colored facades are much more practical and do not require constant maintenance.

The most functional and original solution, according to Debbie, was the rotating bar counter. It transforms the space: sometimes it makes it more spacious, sometimes, on the contrary, it zones the kitchen area, turning it into a dining table.
Debbie approached the choice of flooring as responsibly and practically as possible. Marmoleum is an environmentally friendly linoleum of increased strength. In the manufacture of this material, linseed oil, jute fiber, wood flour and resins are used. The service life of such linoleum reaches forty years. Such flooring is used in children’s sports and recreational institutions.
It was decided to replace the old refrigerator with a new one, more convenient and spacious. “While I loved our previous refrigerator, it fit perfectly and was discreet, it was too small for our family. We decided to change it to a new one, more modern and convenient for everyone,” says Debbie.
In general, the changes were not global, but the kitchen was completely transformed. The main role, of course, was played by new furniture facades and the color of the walls. But even in small things, the kitchen has become more convenient. For example, the principle of opening cabinets has changed, which has simplified daily life. The new sink is larger and more convenient. The stainless steel countertop looks stylish and is easy to maintain.
In the past, kitchen backsplashes were finished with black tiles. This made the kitchen look gloomy. Choosing sky blue tiles was a very good decision. In tandem with walnut-colored facades, the finish looks completely different. This is exactly what Debbie was looking for – a fresh, stylish and cozy interior with minimal costs.
