In order to find space for one more room in the one-room apartment, we had to abandon the corridor and reduce the hallway.
If the area of a one-room apartment is 43 square meters, there is every chance of making it more comfortable. In this standard apartment, Maria Bezrukova dismantled the old partitions and erected new ones – so there was enough space not only for the kitchen, but also for the living room with a bedroom. And in order not to sacrifice natural light, the designer resorted to a trick: she dismantled the balcony block and designed transoms.
A young customer lives in this one-room apartment – a student who studies a lot. Therefore, it was important for the designer to think through the space for both work and relaxation. The layout is typical: the living room has a bay window, making the space look lighter and more spacious.
The apartment is not new, but the previous residents did not change the layout. But designer Maria Bezrukova, on the contrary, proposed completely changing the space, getting rid of the unnecessary corridor and dividing one room into two: a bedroom and a living room.
It was important for the customer to see the furniture in person before purchasing. Therefore, it was first tested in showrooms and then included in the project. We used many pieces of Russian-made furniture – for example, the Armatek bed, The Idea dining table.
Some of the furniture was bought from IKEA: Scandinavians know a lot about small spaces. The kitchen, closet and shelving in the hallway were made to order – studio Zenzerosso helped with this.
To allow light into the living room and hallway, transoms with glass were designed in the partition. Plus, all the doors were made with glass inserts: they got rid of the feeling of an enclosed dark space.
“The color palette was unexpected for me,” says Maria Bezrukova. — After all, pink is not associated with masculine interiors. But the walls in our living room are just soft pink. The customer himself drew attention to them. This print also echoes the wallpaper pattern in the bedroom – twigs with pink buds are depicted on a dark blue background. All the other walls are a neutral truffle shade – it looks cozy.”
