Before and after: budget renovation in one-room apartment 31 m².

We tell you how we updated the interior of an apartment in a standard panel

Designer updated the interior of a one-room apartment with an area of 31 square meters. m in St. Petersburg. The apartment is located in a panel house built in 1971 according to the improved layout project 1LG-606 and has long been in need of renovation. The alteration cost 950 thousand rubles, we tell you the details.

Layout

No significant changes were made to the layout, only the bathroom was combined to make it more spacious. The previous rooms were so cramped and uncomfortable that there wasn’t even room for a cabinet under the sink. The water heated towel rail has been removed. The renovation work began with the complete dismantling of all the finishing, replacing the windows and the front door, and replacing the heating radiators.

Kitchen before renovation:

I wanted to leave the set in place, but make it visually lighter, to hide the equipment behind the facades.

Kitchen after renovation:

The set was installed along one wall. There is gas in the house, the gas pipe is hidden behind the furniture. Since the apartment is on the top floor, the gas pipe ends immediately under the countertop.

The set was chosen without upper cabinets, only lower modules with laconic white facades. The customer rarely cooks at home, so the hob was installed on two burners, and the oven was temporarily abandoned – it can be added later if necessary. Kitchen modules of standard sizes, made from Leroy Merlin.

Room before renovation:

The living room contained almost all the storage, so it was cluttered with furniture. It was necessary to use a minimum of objects and make the room brighter.

Room after renovation:

The walls were painted white and light laminate flooring was laid. The furniture in the interior is modern. The customer brought some things from her previous apartment, they fit perfectly. For example, a Soviet chair in bouclé fabric, the customer bought it a long time ago on Avito and restored it.

Bathroom before renovation:

It was a standard separate bathroom: a separate toilet and a separate bath with sink; there was not enough space for a cabinet.

Bathroom after renovation:

The bathroom has been combined. We installed an installation for a wall-hung toilet, and hid filters and a manifold assembly in a box on top. They didn’t make a hidden hatch; they installed an ordinary plastic one and hung an interesting poster.

The decoration of the walls combined tiles and paint, so a small room looks larger and more interesting. They decided to add an accent color in the bathroom, creating a cozy atmosphere.

Hallway before renovation:

The hallway was cramped and non-functional, and there were no storage systems.

Hallway after renovation:

Now the main storage is located in the hallway – there is a tall, spacious closet with a compartment for household supplies and a vacuum cleaner.

A bench and a hanger for outerwear were provided in the niche.
