What does the Instagram founder’s house look like?

Kevin Systrom can afford any home. But he chose a cozy family home on the lake. The very same place where he once had his first date with his wife Nicole.

Kevin and Nicole approached the construction of their home in Lake Tahoe creatively: they started not with a design project, but with a storyline about the house and its inhabitants. Kevin and Nicole had their first date here, and there are nature reserves and national parks everywhere. Just like New Hampshire, where Kevin grew up. For their children, the couple decided to recreate the same scenario of unity with nature.

As a child, I spent every summer with my grandparents in the woods of New Hampshire. I remember the impression it made on me.
Now the two-story house made of stone and wood looks more like an old mansion. As for the interiors, they are, to put it mildly, unusual. To think through the interior, the designers first wrote about the house as a movie, presenting Kevin with a storyboard.
The house contains unique interior items from all over the world: retro chairs from the 1920s, Bavarian antiques, vintage rattan, a sofa from the era of the royal Stuart dynasty – an explosive, but, you see, delicious mixture.
The kitchen in the house is both stylish and cozy, and it is not surprising that Kevin devoted the most time to the kitchen, because he himself loves to cook. The facades are covered with brass inserts. And the kitchen island is made of walnut, but also complemented with brass.
The living room is connected to the kitchen. The most important thing here is the view of the fabulous blue lake. The living room also has access to a veranda that appears to be floating above the Tahoe.

Bedrooms require special attention. Each of them is decorated in a certain style. For example, there is a “Hemingway room” with a tartan rug, a vintage armchair, an antique chest and deer heads on the walls.

Our friends already have favorite rooms in our house. When they stay with us, they already know where we will place them.
There is a “Bond-style” room and even a “drunken poets’ quarter”, where curtains made of woolen blankets hang, and Bukowski quotes embroidered on them make the interior even funnier.
My daughter grew up and also fell in love with Tahoe. It’s good to see! We go hiking in the forest, swim at the beach, and watch sunsets watching old wooden boats go by.
