Recently, actress Jada Pinkett Smith made an unexpected statement : it turns out that she and Will Smith have not lived together for seven years. After the separation, the Hollywood stars simply decided not to get a divorce and not inform the public about it. Then other shocking details of the relationship between the spouses, who had been married for 26 years, became known. But the parade of revelations did not end there: the actress decided to speak out about the scandalous slap in the face that her husband gave to comedian Chris Rock at the last Oscars. Everyone then considered a joke about Jada’s alopecia to be the reason for the assault – but, as it turned out, it was not only a matter of inappropriate humor.

Will had another reason to dislike the comedian. In an interview with People magazine, Jada said that Chris once tried to hit on her. “Every summer there were reports in the media that Will and I were getting a divorce. And then one day Chris thought it was true and called me and said, “I want to ask you out on a date.” I asked, “What do you mean?” And he was like, “Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?” To which I replied: “No, Chris, these are just rumors.” He was very upset and apologized for a long time,” recalls the actress. She accepted the apology, but her husband was clearly left with an aftertaste.

Well, Chris, apparently, was also offended and made Jada the main target of his stand-ups. The actress recalled another offensive joke to the comedian. It was in 2016, when she supported the #OscarSoWhite movement and announced that she was refusing to attend the ceremony in protest at the lack of black actors on the list of nominees. “Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. We weren’t invited there,” Chris said from the stage then. Well, now everything has fallen into place: this trio has a really complicated past.
But despite this background, the actress could not believe until recently that the famous slap in the face had not been agreed upon in advance. “At first I thought it was part of the show,” she told reporters. “I sat there like, ‘I don’t believe Will could really hit him.’” It was only when he walked back to his chair that I looked at his face and realized that this was not a joke from the script.”
