The investigation is progressing in Morlaix. The body of an 18-year-old woman was found at home on Tuesday, in the apartment where she lived with her partner. The latter surrendered to the police, and he admitted having hit him. His custody was extended Wednesday evening.
We can fear that it is a new feminicide. In Morlaix (Finistère), the police discovered late Tuesday afternoon the body of a young woman in an apartment. She was lying on a bed, under a blanket, said the press release published on Wednesday, specifying that the victim’s companion was then “not found”.
“The circumstances of the police intervention as well as the first observations made on the spot prompted the opening of an investigation in the act of murder by a spouse or partner”, indicates the Brest prosecution. The investigation was entrusted to the urban security brigade of the Morlaix police station.*
According to the Actu17 site, the victim’s baby was in an adjoining room. He was taken care of by the emergency services. For the time being, neither the examination of the body by the medical examiner nor the autopsy have made it possible to determine the precise cause of death.
The companion “at the origin of the violence which led to the death”
A forensic doctor who examined the body on the spot “found several lesions, in particular on the face and neck”, adds the prosecution. According to an autopsy carried out on Wednesday “these lesions are likely to have caused death”, notes the same source, adding however that additional analyzes will have to be carried out before determining the exact cause of death.
The wanted companion finally showed up at the police station late Tuesday afternoon and was “immediately taken into custody,” the statement said. “His first statements tend to confirm that he is behind the violence that led to the death” of the young woman.
On the other hand, neither the exact circumstances nor the reasons for this violence have at this stage been clearly explained. The custody started Tuesday around 5 p.m. was extended Wednesday evening for a further 24 hours, said the Brest prosecutor’s office.
