It is common knowledge that Prince Charles was never very delicate or caring with Diana. But according to extracts from Prince Harry’s memoirs leaked by the “Guardian”, the new King of England was even particularly detestable, hence the resentment of the grandson of Elizabeth II, who wanted to move away from the royal family to better flourish.
Prince Harry’s long-awaited memoir is due for release on January 10, four months from the coronation of his father, King Charles III. In the face of general impatience and hopes for startling revelations about the royal family, excerpts from the book, entitled Spare (the Alternate) are trickling out. Among them, a shocking sentence that Charles would have pronounced to his wife, just after the birth of the youngest of his sons.
The indelicacy of Prince Charles vis-à-vis Lady Di
Such a title is explained by the strong resentment of the Duke of Sussex to be the “spare”. It is therefore unsurprising, indicates the Guardian, the main theme of his book through chapters on his childhood, his schooling, his relationship with his parents and his brother, etc. According to the British newspaper, which had access to a copy of these memoirs, the grandson of Elizabeth II would deliver from the first pages a story of the most sordid concerning his father, King Charles. He would have, according to his words, told Diana on the day the Duke of Sussex was born, in September 1984 : “Wonderful ! Now you have given me an heir and a successor – my job is done.“
The lack of affection at the time brought by Prince Charles to the one who was nicknamed the princess of hearts has been public knowledge for a long time. Although married to the princess, adored all over the world, the heart of the future king was already taken by Camilla Parker Bowles, whom he did not stop loving, leading at the same time the hard life to his neglected wife.
The violent argument with his big brother
In his article, published this Thursday, January 5, 2023, the Guardian also evokes the story of a violent argument between prince Harry and his big brother, prince William, about Meghan Markle. “He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my collar, and knocked me to the ground. I landed on the dog bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I stood there for a while, dazed, then I got up and told him to get out”, recounts the exiled duke with his wife and children in California. According to him, Prince William, like the royal family, has never held Meghan Markle, whom he married in May 2018, in high esteem.
“I would love to get my dad back, I would love to get my brother back.”
Prior to the release of Spare, two Harry interviews are due to air in the UK and US this weekend. To appease impatient souls and while speculation about the contents of his memoir continues, several trailers of these interviews have already been released.
In one of them, the duke declares: “I would love to get my dad back, I would love to get my brother back.” In view of the latest revelations, it is not certain that this will happen anytime soon…
