Meet Irene Crump and Phyllis Jones, twin sisters who just celebrated their 100th birthday together!
The twins were born 25 minutes apart from each other in the very distant 1922, moreover, they went to the same school together, got the same job together for the first time and even now live together in Stourbridge, Worcestershire.
Not so long ago, the grannies celebrated their wonderful birthday, which was attended by 48 people, there were only close friends and family members.
“We often celebrate our special birthdays together, and that day was wonderful,” said the youngest of the sisters, Irene. – Together we celebrated our 90th anniversary, as well as our 99th anniversary last year. Hard work and healthy food – that’s our whole secret – all I can say.
The couple don’t remember their birth weight, but Irene, or Aunt Renée as she is affectionately known, says she has always been ‘chubbier’: ‘I’ve always been heavier. No, not fat, plumper than Phyllis. I had just married a farmer,” says Irene.
The twins also had an older sister, Dorothy, who died in 2006 aged 92. Dorothy was also a twin, but her brother died during childbirth.
The women also had husbands: Irene’s husband, named Samuel, died in 2005 aged 90, but Phyllis’ husband Ray Jones died aged 91 in 2012.
Now Phyllis’ only son, Karl, 58, takes care of the women (Irene had no children). On their birthday, the sisters did not ask for gifts at all, but they wanted their relatives to donate money to the air ambulance.
“We haven’t received all the money yet, but we think we’ve done a great job and this business is close to our hearts,” said Irene.
What is the secret of their long life? “Hard work and healthy eating – that’s our whole secret – all I can say. »
