Sometimes important moments in our lives happen quite by accident. Anaïs Bordieu knew she had been adopted, but had no idea she had a twin sister.
She learned the startling truth after seeing a video on YouTube. A 33-year-old London resident has met her own blood after 25 years apart.
Anaïs knew she was born in South Korea to a single mother and taken to Paris when she was three months old.
The foster parents treated the girl well, giving her love and care. They have always said that they consider Anaïs dear and help her in all the difficult moments of her life.
And although Anais’ birth certificate does not indicate that she has a sister, the girl always dreamed that she was. Once she even made an imaginary friend named Anna.
When Anais studied design in London at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, her life changed forever. A friend tagged the girl in a video posted on Facebook.
When the student opened the video, she froze in surprise – in the footage she saw… herself. At first, Anaïs thought it was a joke, because she knew she had definitely not shot a music video.
The girl on screen had the same hair and freckles, which is unusual for Asian women, but she spoke with an American accent.
Intuition told Anaïs that this case was one of the turning points in her life. She tried for two months to find her copy, but, unfortunately, no information could be found.
In February, the same friend saw the girl again in the 21+ trailer. Thus, the Korean woman managed to reach her twin sister Sam. She texted him on Facebook.
Sam, who was 5,000 miles from Los Angeles, was just getting ready for the movie’s premiere. After receiving the message from Anais, she couldn’t believe her eyes.
A friend of hers suggested that the girl in the photo could be her sister, and the actress realized that was entirely possible, as she too was adopted. A week later, the twins called by video link.
The sisters couldn’t talk enough for several hours. It turned out that they like the same food, have many common hobbies, even facial expressions and gestures were the same
After three months of communication and correspondence, Anaïs and Sam met in London. Their adoptive parents were with them.
The moment of the first meeting was the most exciting and amazing in their lives. Despite the fact that the sisters had not seen each other since birth, it was very easy and natural for them to be in each other’s company.
To finally verify their blood connection, the girls did a DNA test. The results showed that they are indeed sisters. A few months later, Anais flew to Sam in Los Angeles, and the twins decided to go together to their historic homeland – Korea.
Unfortunately, the girls failed to find their biological mother and find out the truth about their birth, but they forever remembered the trip to their homeland. They filmed their journey, which became the basis for the documentary “Gemini”.
Now Anaïs is back in Paris. She got married and gave birth to a son. Sam has a fiancé. The actress continues to live in Los Angeles.
The sisters meet several times a year. The twins constantly communicate on the phone and correspond, sharing everything that is happening in their lives.
The girls regret being so far apart. Nevertheless, together they celebrate important dates – the anniversary and the day of the first meeting.
