It turns out that Rumeisa Gelgi from the Turkish city of Safranbolu became famous all over the world not because of her merits, her achievements in certain fields, but because of … her growth. He reached the mark of 215 cm, despite the fact that the girl herself is currently only 25 years old.

The fact is that Rumeisa’s strong growth is due to Weaver’s syndrome (the first recorded case in Turkey at the time of her birth) – an extremely rare genetic disease characterized by rapid proliferation throughout the growth period, associated with abnormalities in the development of the skeleton and internal organs.

For the first time the girl entered the Guinness Book of Records when she was only 18 years old (her height at that time was already 213 cm). In 2014, Rumeisa was named the tallest teenager in the world. In October 2021, she became the tallest living woman in the world and at the moment she still holds this title).

Moreover, according to the Guinness Book of Records, Gelgi is also the owner of the longest fingers, the largest hands and the longest back among living women.
Of course, life with such a serious illness cannot be easy. So, from the age of one year, Rumeisa underwent a huge number of operations, including in connection with congenital heart defects and scoliosis. Also, Gelga has to use a wheelchair to get around.

At the moment, according to the girl, her health is stable. Rumeisa graduated from high school in 2016, and in March this year, she received her vocational certificate from Harvard University.

At the end of September, Gelga’s first flight by plane took place. Of course, the flight was special in its own way, as Turkish Airlines had to remove six economy class seats. However, everything went well and Rumeisa landed in San Francisco. The youngster shared her emotions on social media and said the flight was “flawless” and the crew members were “incredibly nice and helpful”.

While in the United States, Gelgi once visited Apple’s headquarters in Silicon Valley, as she dreams of connecting her life with the tech industry. The girl also plans to travel across Europe and support people around the world with the same disease (see also: From 175 years old: very tall star beauties).
