Lady Gaga has entered a deeply private new chapter of her life, and even some of the people closest to her were reportedly unaware that she had become a mother.
The singer’s inner circle apparently learned about the arrival of her baby at around the same time as the public. Multiple sources said that almost nobody knew about the pregnancy and birth beforehand, including some of Gaga’s closest confidantes.
Gaga, who already tends to keep a tight circle around her, has now reportedly taken that privacy even further. She has been spending her time in Northern California with her fiancé, Michael Polansky, and has largely stepped away from the public eye while focusing on their baby.
One source described Gaga as extremely happy in her new role and said she has completely secluded herself with the baby. After years of performing and maintaining an intense public career, the singer is now reportedly embracing a very different kind of routine.
“She’s loving being a mom,” the source said, adding that Gaga had previously wanted to continue with major tours but now appears ready to put performing aside for a long while because she simply wants to concentrate on motherhood.
Another person close to Gaga said they were not offended by the decision to keep the baby news private. Instead, the secrecy was viewed positively, particularly because it allowed Gaga and Polansky to experience such an important moment without the usual public attention surrounding her life.
The friend described the couple’s relationship as a safe and loving environment and expressed happiness that they had managed to keep something so personal between themselves.
The same confidant is also strongly supportive of Polansky and of Gaga’s desire to preserve some sense of normality away from the spotlight. After years in which almost every major moment of her career has attracted enormous public attention, the singer now appears to be protecting a much more personal part of her life.
Gaga and Polansky welcomed their first child, a baby girl, on June 9. The couple’s daughter was named Rose Bean Polansky, with the name Rose reportedly inspired by La Vie En Rose, the song Gaga famously performed in the 2018 film A Star Is Born. Gaga also has a rose tattoo on her back accompanied by the words la vie en rose.
The baby’s middle name, Bean, was reportedly chosen as a tribute to activist Carl Bean, who inspired Gaga’s song Born This Way.
The arrival of the baby came after Gaga completed her tour in April. Sources said she had already been ready to slow down following the demanding period of performances, making the timing of her new family life particularly meaningful.
Gaga had also spoken publicly in the past about her desire to have children. Becoming a mother was something she had envisioned for years, and now she appears to be putting that long-held wish at the center of her life.
Polansky has remained by her side throughout their relationship. The couple first went public with their romance in 2020, and Gaga confirmed their engagement in 2024. He has also worked with her professionally, including collaborations on her 2025 album Mayhem.
This summer, the couple reportedly took time away from work so they could be with their baby. Now, Gaga’s decision to keep her daughter away from the public eye appears to be continuing as she settles into motherhood.
