Actress and Goop wellness brand founder Gwyneth Paltrow has shared a rather hilarious — and slightly humiliating — story from the set of her new film. The star confessed that she criticized and gave some very unsolicited skincare advice to her colleague from “Marty Supreme: The Genius of the Game,” Timothée Chalamet… only to completely embarrass herself moments later. Ironically, “Marty Supreme” has already been hailed as one of the standout films of 2025, yet Paltrow still managed to steal some attention with this unexpected behind-the-scenes moment.
Paltrow, who is known for her passion for wellness, beauty hacks, and “helpful suggestions,” admitted that she misinterpreted Chalamet’s heavy, professionally crafted makeup as real skin issues. According to her, the makeup team had done such a meticulous job depicting the character’s rough complexion that she was absolutely convinced Chalamet had visible acne scars.
The actress recalled noticing what she believed were blemishes across his cheeks. Being Gwyneth — and thinking she was doing him a favor — she leaned in with what she thought was expert advice.

“He said something to me, and I just went, ‘Oh, you know, you could totally try microneedling to help with that,’” Paltrow recounted with a laugh, adding that she genuinely thought she was being helpful.
Right in the middle of this very confident lecture about skincare, the real plot twist hit.
Chalamet instantly responded, deadpan:
“It’s makeup.”

Paltrow froze. “I didn’t know!” she said she blurted out, mortified. The transformation was so convincing, she admitted, that she had no idea it wasn’t his actual skin. “The makeup was so good I truly believed he had tiny acne scars,” she said, confirming she had absolutely embarrassed herself in front of the 29-year-old star.
And of course, as she later clarified, Timothée Chalamet has beautiful skin in real life — smooth, clear, and definitely not in need of microneedling.
The moment has now become an amusing anecdote for Paltrow, though she hinted she might think twice before giving “friendly advice” on someone’s appearance in the future. A little reminder, perhaps, that even wellness gurus shouldn’t always jump in with corrections — especially on a movie set where nothing is quite what it seems.
