The future queen, Kate Middleton, often shares many of her hobbies with her close ones, especially when it comes to sports. However, one of Kate’s favorite pastimes is not approved by her royal father-in-law. Interestingly, Charles enjoys experimenting with food, creating his own dishes and drinks.
His Majesty took up painting after photography stopped bringing him joy. King Charles explained this at a stand showcasing some of his watercolor paintings in 2022. Meanwhile, Kate loves photography and captures truly stunning shots!

Charles, on the other hand, is not pleased with the results of his photography experiments. “I took up painting solely because photography didn’t give me the same pleasure. Simply put, I felt an irresistible desire to express what I saw through watercolors and convey that almost ‘inner’ sense of texture that photography cannot achieve,” he explained.
So it seems King Charles isn’t fond of working with a camera, unlike his daughter-in-law. The Princess of Wales is a passionate amateur photographer and, over the years, has taken many iconic royal family photos. Kate even photographed Queen Camilla for the cover of the 2022 issue of Country Life magazine. The queen consort herself describes the Princess of Wales as a highly skilled and talented photographer.
