After many years of struggling with infertility, I was sure that the birth of our two beautiful daughters would be a happy turning point for our family. I could never have imagined that, instead of joy, my husband would leave us at the most important moment of our lives.
The pregnancy was tough. Weeks of bed rest, sleepless nights, the fear of losing the babies… But when I first held Masha and Sonya in my arms, all of that seemed insignificant.
When my husband came to visit us, instead of a smile or tears of joy, his face froze with an expression I couldn’t understand.
“Hello,” I whispered. “Look at them, aren’t they a miracle?”
After the birth, my husband came into the room, and as soon as he saw our daughters, he announced that he wanted a divorce.
He stepped closer, glanced at the girls, and his face tensed.
“What’s this?” he mumbled.
I frowned.
“These are our daughters. Masha and Sonya.”
“You knew I wanted a boy!” he snapped so sharply that I almost dropped the baby.
I couldn’t process it.
“Igor, these are our children, healthy, beautiful. Isn’t that the most important thing?”
“No, these are not my children,” he spat through gritted teeth.

After the birth, my husband came into the room, and as soon as he saw our daughters, he announced that he wanted a divorce.
“This isn’t what I was expecting.”
He said I had deceived him, that I had “let him down.” Then he turned around and left, slamming the door.
In that moment, every part of me ached. My joy vanished, leaving only emptiness and tears. The babies snuggled close to me, as if sensing my despair.
The next day, he didn’t come back. Not even after a week. I later found out he had gone on vacation abroad, as if nothing had happened. His mother, Olga Sergeyevna, supported him, calling me and accusing me of destroying the family and “betraying their name.”
Every message from her cut through my heart. But as I rocked the babies through the long nights, I realized: for their sake, I had to be strong.
After the birth, my husband came into the room, and as soon as he saw our daughters, he announced that he wanted a divorce.
I hired a lawyer, filed for divorce, and secured full custody. It wasn’t easy, but through this process, I found confidence in myself.
