George Clooney surprised his fans with an unexpected decision: the actor announced that he and his wife Amal will spend the next six months apart. This is something that has never happened during their 10-year marriage. Given that their relationship has reportedly struggled even with much shorter separations, Clooney can’t help but worry about the future of their marriage.
Clooney recently shared in an interview that he will be away from his wife and children for an extended period. He revealed that he has agreed to perform in the Broadway show Good Night, and Good Luck. As the actor calculated, considering rehearsal time and the duration of the show’s run, his absence will last around six months. Clooney admits that he is deeply anxious about being away from his beloved wife and their twin children, Ella and Alexander. However, this will be his first time performing on Broadway, and he couldn’t bring himself to turn down such an opportunity.
While the 63-year-old George is in New York, his wife and the twins will stay in France, where the family moved last year. Clooney doesn’t plan to bring Ella and Alexander with him, explaining that he wants to respect their right to a calm and stable life. The twins, now 7 years old, have already grown attached to their home in Provence, and George believes that uprooting them, moving them from school to school, and taking them everywhere would be unfair. Therefore, he decided that the children should stay with their mother in the estate where they’ve settled.
The estate, Domaine de Canadel, located in Provence, was purchased by Clooney in 2021. However, the family only spent occasional time there in the first couple of years, mostly living in the U.S. and spending summers in Italy at Lake Como. Now, the actor has decided to establish a permanent base in France. Apart from everything else, he plans to devote himself to his new hobby. Inspired by Brad Pitt’s success in winemaking at his Château Miraval estate, Clooney has decided to follow the example of Angelina Jolie’s ex-husband. According to his plans, Clooney aims to release the first samples of his wine this year. Moreover, the proximity to Brad Pitt, one of his closest friends, played a significant role in Clooney’s decision to settle in France, as Pitt’s château is just half an hour’s drive from Domaine de Canadel.
