A new structure will be established in the U.S. to study incidents related to unidentified flying objects (UFOs). This was announced by New York Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
She stated that the new entity will replace the U.S. Navy’s Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) Task Force, which was created in 2020. According to the senator, the new structure will have access to UFO data from the intelligence community and the U.S. Department of Defense to ensure a “coordinated” response. This unit will also assess national security threats related to UFOs.
The amendments to the defense policy law were co-authored by Republican Senators Roy Blunt, Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio, and Democrat Martin Heinrich.
Previously, the U.S. Department of Defense reorganized its group tracking unidentified aerial phenomena. It had been reported that U.S. intelligence officials found no evidence to suggest that the atmospheric phenomena witnessed by Navy pilots in recent years were alien spacecraft, but they still cannot explain the unusual movements that have confounded scientists and the military.
