On Friday, December 13, the annual iHeartRadio Jingle Ball 2024 took place at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The night was capped off by a performance from 40-year-old Katy Perry, but by the middle of the concert, the stadium began to empty rapidly as many attendees left before the show ended.
Surprised by the exodus, Katy addressed the crowd from the stage:
“Hello, everyone. I know, I know, it’s crazy. It’s getting late, and it’s cold outside. You don’t know whether to stay or leave, whether to be in or out, whether to be hot or cold? Just make a decision!”
Later, fans who left early took to social media to explain their actions. The performance had been lengthy, and many fans from other cities had to leave early to catch the last trains. One fan even shared that she missed her train and was stranded in New York until 4 a.m.
In addition to Katy Perry, the event featured performances from Tate McRae, Madison Beer, Twenty One Pilots, and other artists. The audience also included several celebrities, including actress Sarah Michelle Gellar and TV host Jimmy Fallon.
