A girl living in Brazil wanted to enhance her figure. Vivian found a plastic surgeon online and traveled to the city of Sobral in the state of Ceará. The complex of operations lasted for 8 hours. In one session, she underwent liposuction of the abdomen, arms, back, and chin, as well as breast reduction and buttock augmentation. For all this, the patient paid $7,300 (690,000 rubles).
Fifteen hours after the surgery, Vivian returned home, and almost immediately she began to experience complications. She complained of severe pain and had a sudden drop in blood pressure. Vivian sought medical help, and the doctors sent her to intensive care.
The Brazilian woman spent 22 days in the intensive care unit. Vivian passed away from a heart attack on Thursday, September 26, just one day before her 25th birthday. The doctors explained that they managed to treat her for pulmonary artery thromboembolism but were unable to control a severe infection in her abdominal cavity.
The girl’s husband blamed the plastic surgeon for her death. Renan Santiago stated that his fiancée only wanted breast reduction and abdominal liposuction, but the doctor convinced her to remove fat from other areas as well, promising to do the chin liposuction for free, which pleased Vivian.
When Renan informed the doctor about the complications, he replied that they were typical postoperative effects that would resolve over time. He visited his patient only a few hours before her death when the doctors had already deemed her condition irreversible. The police have called Vivian’s death “suspicious.” Authorities are currently investigating whether the surgeon is to blame.
“We saw how Vivian was gradually dying. It was 22 days of suffering without any good news. Every day she spoke to us in a very weak voice, struggling to breathe. She knew she was dying.”
Previously, 33-year-old Serafima Bocharova, a mother of two girls, died after a plastic surgery procedure. The businesswoman from Irkutsk decided to undergo surgery to correct a diastasis of the abdominal muscles but did not come out of the coma.
A Brazilian model, Aline Ferreira, also died at a similar age after buttock augmentation surgery. She left behind a husband and two young children.
