American actress Sharon Stone has announced that she will leave the USA and move to Europe if Donald Trump is elected President. Observing the electoral climate in her country following the assassination attempt on Trump, the actress is considering purchasing property in Italy.
“I am deeply concerned about what is happening in my country. This is one of the first times in my life that I have truly seen someone running for office on a platform of hatred and oppression. I would like to believe that my country embodies all the traits we have always stood for—independence, courage, dignity—and that all the other countries we have supported will stand by us as we go through this troubling time,” the star said at the Taormina Film Festival.
Stone added that buying a home in Italy seems like a “reasonable step” given Trump’s recent surge in popularity after the assassination attempt last week. Friends of Sharon mentioned that she initially considered relocating to the French Riviera before turning her attention to Italy. Currently, Stone, who has developed a serious interest in painting in recent years, is showcasing her artwork in various countries. Her current exhibition is in Berlin and will soon open in Rome.
Besides Stone, many other celebrities have actively opposed Trump. For instance, George Clooney hosted fundraisers for President Joe Biden and later called for his resignation days before he actually stepped down. Jamie Lee Curtis and singer Katy Perry have supported Vice President Kamala Harris.
