Repurposing antique furniture is a fascinating art of renewal as well as an ecologically responsible way to decorate an interior. Experienced craftsmen Eugene and Elena took on a job lately that involved two antique Ganka chests of drawers from the 1970s, which were individually turned into works of art.
The restoration technique included removing the glossy lacquer, carefully repairing cracks and defects, applying chalk paint, and then finishing with a matte lacquer finish. The original handles were saved, cleaned with great care, and brought back to life.
Despite undergoing extensive renovations, each dresser retained its character. A dresser was given a colorful inner makeover while keeping a simple white pattern on the outside.
The other dresser was given new life and a unique character by displaying a stunning geometric design on the outside while keeping its original inside.
